Updates 9.14

Independent Reading Log (IRL)- This week scholars will be working on a project all week that is due this Friday September 18th. They will be creating a t-shirt (on paper not an actual t-shirt) for a character in their just right book. Scholars were given the handout in class today as I explained the assignment to them all.

Words Their Way (WTW) - Ask your scholar what has changed! 3 assignments are due each week for their WTW. Ask your scholar about their TIC-TAC-TOE board.

Reader’s Workshop- We are working on tracking our characters in our Just Right books and our class read aloud, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing. We started our read aloud today and the scholars seem very excited about it!

Text Analysis- We are continuing our work with main idea and theme. Our texts this week include Garbologist and Your World. Ask your scholar about the field of Garbology…

Writer’s Workshop- We are continuing our unit on narrative writing. Ask your scholar about their brainstorming activities around stories that have happened in their real life and stories that they wished existed. We had some very creative ideas flowing in class.

Social Studies- We are continuing our unit on Native Americans. Ask you scholar which tribes they have learned about so far. We have been focusing on clothing, shelter, region, and lifestyle of the first major tribes of America.
