If students do not do their best work, they will be completing homework to their best effort in recovery. Here are some examples:
WTW- Some scholars did not read and follow directions. I told them repeatedly that this was going to be taken for a grade and the total point value and breakdown is on the bottom of the document. Furthermore, the day by day homework is laid our for scholars on their handouts. If they have questions, they have all week to ask me. Their spelling tests are every Friday.
Reading Log- Some scholars are not doing quality work for their nightly reading log homework. Again, I told them all week that I was taking this up for a grade and still some were incomplete. For example, last week's skill was dialogue. They had to copy dialogue form their just right book and note the page number. Illustrations were extra credit. This information was also sent home Monday of last week in detail. The logs also require a parent signature each night. I appreciate your support a home. Thank you for all that you do and for your continued support. Please check to make sure that your scholar is reading every night.
Spelling corrections- If students did not pass their spelling tests they were given an additional assignment to complete over the weekend. Some completed it in Recovery today 10/26, but misspelled words in their assignment. They will be making corrections tomorrow in the Recovery Room.
The reflection that the students will complete is pictured below. In order to return to recess, students will need to come up with an action plan, at the bottom of the document, and get the form signed by a parent or guardian:
