Updates 12/7

Hello all!

I hope that everyone had a pleasant weekend. Here are a few updates for the next 2 weeks.

12/7 MAP testing in class

12/17 Field Trip to the Fabulous Fox Theater: The Nutcracker; Research paper due; American Revolution Social Studies Test

12/18 Authors Celebration and Class Holiday Party; 3:00-4:00- 3-5 MAP perseverance party for students who met or exceeded MAP testing from August

Author's party details:

1:30-2:30 P.M- Author Publishing Parties in classrooms

• Showcase of all student work. Students read their work to visiting parents.

2:30-3:00- Holiday Celebration in our Classroom

• I will be baking cookies for this but we will need more! Please let me know if you plan on bringing anything in on this day.

Academic updates:

Reader's and Writer's workshop- During the next two weeks we will be continuing our work with non fiction. While we dig deeper into nonfiction text features we will also continue our research for our research papers. We will be constructing our papers this week and they will be due next Thursday 12/17. We will work on them in class until they are due.

Text analysis- The scholars have been doing so well tacking main idea. We will continue to analyze our text the next 2 weeks and construct meaningful responses to the content.

Social Studies- We will be beginning out uint on the American Revolution. We will test on this unit next Thursday 12/17. Below are the standards and vocabulary terms that we will cover:

*** We will continue to work on our reading logs for the net two weeks but we will NOT have any Words Their Way assignments until after the winter break. ***

Classroom needs:

We are in need of tissues! I bought some this weekend, but in the midst of allergies, cold, and flu season we go through them fast! :)
