Hello all!

It is hard to believe that we are already back. I missed all of the scholars, but spent my break with my family and friends. I hope that everyone had a wonderful and peaceful end of the year… Happy 2016!

This week we will be focusing on routines. We will be going over the expectations of our classroom, 4th grade, and Kindezi. As we move into the second half of the year we move closer to 5th grade! We will be putting more responsibility on the scholars and we will be expecting them to keep up with the following things weekly:

• Reading Logs (Due Mondays with parent signature)

• Words Their Way Work (Due Friday)

• Homework Folders

• Agendas

• Silent reading books

• All assignments and HOMEWORK

We will be checking for these items throughout the week to make sure that scholars are keeping up with their required school materials. Along with grades for completed work, scholars will have the opportunity to earn DOJO points for having all of their things in order, organized, and turned in on time. We took class time today to clean out our ELA/SS bins, book bags, homework folders, binders, and to check out new independent reading books. We went over the expectations in class and all students are aware of the expectations.

LATE WORK: I will accept late work up to 2 days late (not counting weekends) for a 10 point deduction per day late. This is our late policy and we will be sticking to it!

DRESS OUT FRIDAY: Students in 4th grade will now need to earn 25 points by Thursday in order to dress out on Friday. If you have any questions, please check your DOJO account or e-mail us with any questions. Students will have MANY opportunities to earn points. Some of these opportunities include:

• Exhibiting Kindezi Core Values

• Helping Others

• Transitions (6/day)

• Meeting Goals

• Study Hall tickets

• Dismissal tickets

• Being on task

• Tracking the speaker

• Using accountable talks

• Helping others

• Being a good example

• Working hard

PROGRESS REPORTS will be out very soon! Look for them in your scholar’s homework folders by next week.

IRL this week will be student choice. They ONLY requirement is that students write a 2 sentence minimum response every night. Again, I will be checking them throughout the week for accuracy. This will be one of the 1st grades of the new quarter.
