Hello all!

Sorry for the late e-mail, our Internet was out at school today. Here are a few updates for this week:

Classroom Needs:

- Kleenex

- Pencils

- Lysol

**IMPORTANT: Parents, we have been noticing an increasing problem with mechanical pencils. Scholars are taking them from their classmates and taking them apart. They distract them and we have had more than one of the clips fly off and hit someone because scholars have been using them inappropriately. Please refrain from sending your scholar in with mechanical pencils if at all possible to help us cut down on this off task behavior.

Field Trip Update: If you have not paid your 2nd installment for the field trip (1st $15 deposit 2nd $65à $50 payment) your child is at high risk of not attending the field trip. I am unsure if we are still accepting payments for special circumstances. Our grade level chair is out of town so I will ask her as soon as she comes back. If you have any questions, please ask and I will find answers as soon as possible for you all.

If you are interested in MILESTONES BOOTCAMP for your child PLEASE let us know. Administration has handed out permission slips to scholars and they may open enrollment to all. This would mean first come first in so let me know if you are interested.

Milestones PREP- Scholars have done such a great job prepping for milestones. We have brainstormed together ways to make this work fun. This is what we came up with. Ask your scholar what each of them is:

  • ABCD Notecards

  • Whiteboard games

  • Back-TO-Back/Face-TO-Face

  • Debate corners

  • Gallery walk

  • Scholars as Teachers

  • Basketball Q’s

I have promised the Scholars that if we can do our best up until Spring Break with the milestones prep work that we can have a class Pizza/Wing party. They are VERY excited at this opportunity! I will update you all as the date gets closer.

Dr.Seuss Week wanted to let you know of some events that will be happening next week. We are having Dr. Seuss Week! Attached is the handout laying to what we will be doing what day. We would love to have 100% scholar participation.

Scholars will resume their words their way work this week. I gave them class time to work on their Monday night homework, so they may not have finished it in class. J These terms are directly linked to their social studies unit: Women’s Suffrage and Civil Rights.

Is anyone interested in CHESS CLUB? Let me know!
