I hope you all had a great weekend. Here is some additional information I wanted to share with you:

Interim Testing

We had a great 1st day of Interim testing! The students were on time, focused and ready to go.

Please remember that we are testing every day this week (3/7- 3/11) from about 8:40-10:00.

PLEASE make sure that your scholars are at school on time and have a had a great breakfast. If they eat breakfast at school, please make sure that they arrive at school early enough to eat in the cafeteria and arrive in class on time to start the day.

This round of Interim assessments will also be our practice round for the GA Milestones. The test is structured like the GA Milestones test and the testing environment will be the same.

Monday: ELA Part 1-8:40-10:00

Tuesday: ELA Part 2-8:40-10:10 (Extended Constructed Response)

Wednesday: Math: 8:40-10:00

Thursday: Social Studies 8:40-10:00

Friday: Science: 8:40-10:00

As a school, we use data collected from interims to move forward with our teaching straegies. It is SO important that scholars do their very best because we make some of the following decisions based on the data we collect:

- make decisions to move forward with material scholars have mastered

- make decisions to go back and re-cover material where scholars showed evidence of misconceptions

- create small groups for independent and group work

- recommend scholars for tutorial

- target skills to work on individually with scholars

- many more important academic decisions

To help your scholar prepare, ask they what they have been doing in school. Look at their work that comes home in their WEDNESDAY folders. Quiz them on some of the material they did incorrectly and encourage them by pointing out work on assignments where they excelled!

Also, we will be having discussions in class about good test taking strategies. PLEASE review the images below and talk to your scholar about what good test takers do!

The Popcorn Palace fundraiser ends March 11th. Please turn in your scholar's order form and money by the 11th.

Message from the parent in running the track program:

Hi and welcome! Please register him at the Atlanta Track Club under Kilometer Kids. We practice Tuesday and Thursday 5-6 at the school. Weather permitting we run at Central Park otherwise we will be in the gym. Attendance in the Parent resource room and then off to run!
