Jerri Higgins Math/Sci

I am a graduate of Georgia State University, with a B.S. in Geology. Before I started teaching Middle School Science 8 years ago, I worked for many years for environmental consulting firms that helped the EPA identify hazardous waste sites. I also helped industry determine how to clean up existing hazardous waste, or assisted them in plans to avoid creating hazardous waste sites. My next career involved cooking--I had my own business as a Personal Chef. I went to people's homes and prepared meals for them for the week (including grocery shopping and doing the dishes). This was lots of fun but not very lucrative during a time of recession! So I set my sights on becoming a teacher, something that my mother, father, brother, two uncles, and two cousins had done before me. For the past 8 years, I have taught both Life Science and Earth Science in Fulton County Schools system. Being a teacher has been a wonderful choice for me. I love seeing students "get it" and I love getting them to that point! I cannot wait to have the opportunity to get to know the students at Kindezi, and provide them with a nurturing, and challenging, environment for learning. When I am not teaching or planning about teaching, I am an avid collector of rocks, from minerals to crystals to fossils to just plain rocks. I also love to cook, for others and myself.
