Hello! My name is Naeemah Ricketts and I am so excited to be teaching 4th Grade English Language Arts and Social Studies at Kindezi for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year. I hold a Master's Degree in Literacy and Special Education and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Childhood Education. I've obtained both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Iona College located in New Rochelle, NY.

 

For the past 3 years I was a Special Education Teacher at Equality Charter School (ECS) in The Bronx, NY. I've taught 7th grade English Language Art for the past 2 years and 3 electives classes such as Physical Education, Art, and Life and Literacy during my first year teaching at ECS. Additionally, I was the 7th Grade Level Team Leader as well as the Special Education Mentor teacher for the past year and the head Volleyball coach for 3 years.

 

Prior to working at ECS, I worked for 3 years full-time at Iona College as the Coordinator of Academic for 21 Division I sports. Additionally, I was an in-home Applied Behavior Analyst tutor for autistic children for the School District of New Rochelle, a role that I held for 3 years as well.  Finally, I have also coached Division III College Basketball at the College New Rochelle in New Rochelle, NY.

 

Outside of school, I love working out, going to the gym, and trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. My other interests are listening to gospel and r&b music, spending quality time with my family and friends, and relaxing when I have time to do so by watching my recorded shows.

I believe that ALL students have the ability to  be excel academically. To assist students with reaching their fullest potential, students should be taught in a nurturing and loving environment; one that caters to each student's individual needs and learning styles. It is my job to assist students with becoming independent, self-confident, and efficient learners and equip them with the skills and tools that will prepare them for life-long learning and success.
